GoFundMe raises money for Massachusetts couple who fostered hundreds of children after fire destroys house – masslive.com

A Massachusetts couple who fostered hundreds of children lost their house to a fire just days before Thanksgiving. Now, their community is helping give back to them.

In less than 24 hours, a GoFundMe had raised more than $88,000.

“My parents are very overwhelmed with everything going on,” the GoFundMe states. “They are feeling the virtual hugs they are receiving from the community and it is definitely helping them through this challenging day.”

Bob Touchette was home Monday with two foster children, ages 2 and 4, and their adopted son, Anthony when the fire started, WCVB reported. He helped them and their dog escape safety, the GoFundMe states.

“My husband got out, the two foster babies, he got them out,” Etna Touchette, Bob’s wife, told the news station.

Although the family is safe, they lost all their physical belongs, according to the GoFundMe. The fundraisers goal is $250,000.

The couple began fostering children on Jan. 8, 1971. Since then, they have fostered more than 300 children and adopted eight children, WCVB reported.

“(Thanksgiving) might not be the same this year, but in my heart, I think that I’m just thankful that we’re OK,” Anthony told the news station.
